A Year of Growth at South Heart Clinic

As we enter the New Year, South Heart Clinic reflects on a year of significant growth and innovation in cardiovascular care across the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas.

A major advancement this year was the addition of advanced Cardiac CT imaging at our Weslaco cardiology clinic, expanding access to noninvasive, high-resolution heart imaging for patients throughout the region. This technology allows for earlier detection of coronary artery disease, improved diagnostic accuracy, and more personalized treatment planning, further strengthening our comprehensive heart care services.

We also celebrated the opening of our Brownsville cardiology clinic, improving access to specialized cardiovascular care in Cameron County and surrounding communities. In addition, South Heart Clinic established a new partnership with SpaceX, reinforcing our role as a trusted provider of cardiovascular services for major employers in South Texas.

Throughout the year, our physicians, advanced practice providers, and dedicated staff continued to deliver patient-centered cardiology care with compassion and clinical excellence. Our cardiologists were also proud to represent TX Heart at the South Texas Interventional Cardiologist Convention, demonstrating our commitment to innovation, education, and leadership in interventional cardiology.

Another historic milestone was achieved with the first Optimizer® Smart Mini implantation in the Rio Grande Valley, performed by Dr. Frank Mazzola in collaboration with Dr. Shereef Hilmy. This advanced therapy, implanted for the first time south of San Antonio, marks a major step forward in the treatment of chronic heart failure patients in South Texas.
